Slate Cutter Control Panel
This process control panel was built for Welsh Slate in Bangor, North Wales.
The system was built to cut slate blocks in the quarry.
The system utilises a PLC optimizing cutting algorithm written by Axis' engineers. The result was increased throughput, productivity and enhanced blade life, whilst also reducing energy consumption compared with the previous manual system.
For this system we used an Omron CJ1 PLC and Omron V1000 inverters. The whole system was designed around a robust Devicenet comms network, including all drives, remote operator control desks and touchscreens.
Pet Food Extrusion Line Control Panel
This complete process production line control system was built for a leading pet food manufacturer. The 4.8 metre enclosure incorporated :-
- 30 Schneider ATV71 variable speed drives
- 35 Schneider DOL motor starters
- 4 Siemens Sirius soft starters
- 1500 Amp Wohner busbar
- 2000 Amp ABB isolator
Plant Control Panel
This master MCC control panel was built for local company Golden Acres Pet Food Partners.
This system was built to Golden Acres design, and comprises an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC rack that is linked by fibre optic cable to the plant wide DCS system. A Siemens dual redundant battery backed UPS system has been integrated. Machine safety is handled by a rack of Pilz safety relays. Control gear from Merlin-Gerin, ABB and Schneider was used.
Chick Hatchery Control Panel
This chick hatchery process control panel was built for a local machine builder who specialises in hatchery equipment : John Francis Haycock / Digitech.
The system has an Omron PLC and HMI, and controls the complete hatchery take off line at Annyalla in Wrexham. The conveyors are controlled by Parker 650 inverters.
Grinder Machine Control Panel
This grinder control panel has a complex Pilz safety relay interlock system.
The process is controlled by an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC.

Incinerator Stack Gas Sampling Control Panel
This incinerator stack gas sampling system was built for sampling specialist's Protea, their customer required a system that could monitor and control six channels of heated gas sampling equipment. The system, which incorporates a SCADA system and ethernet networked PLC with rack mounted temperature control modules. All process data is logged and can viewed across the SCADA network.

Reel Slitting Control Panel
This fabric reel slitting process control panel was built for Silentnight Beds.
The system uses four Omron MX2 inverters to control linear blade positioning, chuck rotation, blade rotation and blade cutting cycle. The whole process is controlled by an Omron PLC, with positioning information provide by a Sick DFS60 programmable encoder. An Omron NS8 touchscreen provides the operator with all machine information.
The complex machine safety requirements are handled by a Sick programmable safety system, which monitors information from Estops, guard switches, coded magnetic safety switches and light curtains.
Shotblaster Control Panel
This shotblasting process control panel was built for a North East car parts foundry.
The PLC controlled system controls an overhead conveying system that automatically loads and unloads the products into a shotblasting chamber, which is also controlled by the PLC.
An Allen-Bradley Compactlogix PLC was used on this system, along with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex inverters.
Incinerator Stack Monitoring System Control Panel
This control system was supplied to Novartis pharmaceuticals near Cork in Ireland.
The Siemens S7-300 PLC system controls heated lines for the incinerator stack gas analysis system.
Valve positioning and alarm information is displayed on a local operator touchscreen, but also relays required information to the factory wide DCS system.
Cut To Length Control Panel
Axis Controls designed and built this bespoke cut to length control system for Silentnight Beds in Barnoldswick.
We were approached by Silentnight Beds to design and build a control system that would increase accuracy and machine throughput for a mattress fabric measuring and guillotine machine.
Our solution used an Omron colour touchscreen, Omron CP1L PLC, and Omron V1000 inverter.
Fabric length was measured with a Sick DFS60 programmable encoder.
A pattern length is selected by an operator from the touchscreen, then the fabric is fed through nip rollers with a measuring encoder, and once at correct length is guillotined.
