Amcor Portugal Servo Case Study

We have been commissioned to design and deliver a range of automation and electrical control systems for a variety of machine builder and end user business.

In this case study Axis Controls was commissioned by a customer to design and develop a servo control system. This servo control system was ordered by a machine builder with the end user being based overseas in Portugal.

We were asked to design and develop a servo system control panel that could independently control the rewind tensions on four individual rewind turrets.

The winding material was extremely delicate, and therefore prone to web breaks. Our solution was to use four high end Omron servo drives, sat on an EtherCAT network, with tension control performed inside an Omron NJ process automation controller (PAC).

Tensions and other process data was entered via a 10" Omron NA touchscreen.
